The National Festival Orchestra
The National Festival Orchestra has a brilliant reputation as one of the Country's leading theatre and concert orchestras. The players have a complete mastery of the music of the West End and Broadway shows, with many of them being concert and solo performers in their own right.
The players' great versatility is apparent in the orchestra's ability to play in many different styles - from Bach to Baccarach and from Strauss to Sondheim. Each year the members provide the resident orchestra for The International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, and we are delighted to welcome them back for their 12th successive season. In addition the orchestra cover a busy round of concerts, shows and choral society performances. Highlights have included appearances at the London Palladium, The Royal Albert Hall, and in 2003 a huge festival event with the star soprano Lesley Garrett at the Doncaster Racecourse.
The National Festival Orchestra has also made several live and recorded appearances on BBC Radio, including a tribute concert to Oscar-winning film composer, John Barry. The orchestra has been adapted for Sing Live, resulting in many performances at exciting venues including Birmingham Symphony Hall, Manchester Bridgewater Hall, The Sage, Gateshead, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Leeds, Sheffield and Huddersfield Town Halls.
